Default Spokane has it first dispensary

http://www.kxly.com/Global/category.asp?C=113691

This was a surprise to me. Nothing like getting a few hundred dollars in free advertising as well.

Has anybdy been there? What type of selection and prices?

Default how is this "legal"???

here's today's link to the story and accompanying video: apparently the tv station likes to play "musical urls" and changed the link since beancounter's post :-) ....click on the link on the page to watch the accompanying video:

http://www.kxly.com/Global/story.asp?S=10317580

if the link goes bad again, just go to the tv stations web http://www.kxly.com and type in marijuana in the "search site" window at the bottom of the left column. the story is on the top of the list.

here's what I want to know.... how is this guy's medical marijuana dispensary (he is also the grower) "LEGAL" ?? (the reporter said it was legal) I thought the law allowed a grower to grow for ONE mmj partient ....not for a client list ...does he have "serial" patients ....this five minutes he's growing for YOU and the next five minutes he's growing for another person ...one at a time??? .

..hey! maybe some of the rest of us might like to tap into this HUGE market and start "cottage dispensaries" of our own ;-)

Thanks for the link update.

I had lots of questions as well. My understanding was that dispensaries are not legal but have been allowed to operate in certain sympathetic jurisdictions.

Is Spokane going to be one of those? Hard to imagine with the sour grapes response from the police. When the police say these cards are too easy to get, a good reporter would ask the officer what type of medical background does he/she posess to override the opinion of a licensed professional doctor?

I am pretty sure they are using a familiar loophole with the one patient one provider rule. I am provider for John from 12-1. I am provider for Joe from 2-3. I am provider for Jim from 3-4. So on and so forth. You would have to make a consent form and have a signature from the patient, but I believe this is one of the only ways around it. Weather or not that is exactly what he is doing I am unsure. What I do know is that it is illegal to do what he is doing according the the strict interpretation of the law. I guess it will be up to Judge and Jury?

If that's the case, wouldn't they have to have under 16 plants and less than 24 ounces on the property at all times? Hmm, Maybe they do.

Very interesting. Am I the only one on here that has Never set foot in a dispensary or any place that can legally sell MJ? I just want to see one and see the selections and baked goods and whatever other goodies these places can carry.

It just seemed odd that LEO, would comment about the cards and not mention the whole operation might be illegal.

You can grow more plants and store more medicine if you just have your doctor specify the amount in his recommendation.

You might be surprised how ignorant police are of the law...

I have never been in any legal business offering marijuana for sale. Don't really care to either honestly. I like my face to face meetings with my caregiver. I look forward to them for sure!

I went to "Change" yesterday and spoke with the owners, Chris and Scott. Some SMG patients wanted to procure some product and Change needed to verify their recommendation. So we are setting that up. So far, the establishment is licensed as a business with a tax number. They have the Chief of Police and the County Sheriff "word" they will not raid them as long as they verify that every person coming through the door is a patient. Whether or not the Federal LEO honor the local LEO agreement is yet to be seen. IMHO the TV station did not do us any favors in the way they presented this story. Melissa again inserted her large foot into her mouth by trying to be the "expert MMJ patient advocate." The only thing she did was make all of us look like a bunch of pot-heads. More to come later. KMJ.

Yeah Ken, Journalistically, the story was garbage. Full of errors concerning legality and prescriptions and of course not a single challenging question was posed by the cub reporter.

I had to laugh at them not showing the location of a "legal" business. That dangerous Medical MJ.

Wayy O/T But there's a new Gun shop on Division in Spokane that on it's permanent sign (not one of those that you can change daily) states the business name and then under has
"Silencers" and "Grenade Launchers" LOL. That might attract a little LEO attention.

I'm all for the second amendment but that is some ballsy targeted advertising. LOL.
